A new support group, open to all foster/resource caregivers is starting up! Our facilitators will be Michael Moncrieff and Amanda Divine, both from El Dorado County CPS. Both Amanda and Michael work in the RFA Unit and Amanda is also a certified therapist. The purpose of the group is to provide a safe space for sharing with and supporting one another in the challenging work of being a foster/resource family. If you plan to attend and need childcare, please RSVP to Samantha.Hicks@edcgov.us or call (530)642-7108. Can’t make it and prefer a different day or time slot? Please let Samantha know your preferences! Juline will also be there.

And that same evening….you won’t want to miss this special presentation:

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: What Parents Need to Know

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018, 6:30pm-9:00pm

Location: El Dorado County Office of Education, 6767 Green Valley Rd., Placerville, Building B, Room 2

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is so common in children in foster care that some states mandate that all foster parents receive training on FASD. You won’t want to miss this special training with Barb Clark, an adoptive mom who is also a FASD consultant, coming all the way from Minnesota! Barb also works for the National Council on Adoptable Children, and will be leading our meeting on Tuesday evening. I know, two nights in a row….it’s a lot but this is an amazing opportunity! We are piggy backing on her visit to Sacramento. Join us to gain insight and practical tools from a parenting expert with lived experience! RSVP/registration information for this free workshop to come.
